Designed to act primarily as an unbiased research tool, this log makes a direct attempt to collate and record known Unidentified Flying Object sighting data for the year 2016 from the Leicestershire and Warwickshire - (Also Coventry) regions of the United Kingdom, and mainly uses material directly reported to the various member groups of the Leicestershire (with Warwickshire) UFO Investigation Network. The log also occasionally makes reference and provides links to associated items that have appeared in the media etc.

77/16/01. - 2 January 2016 - 21:00 - Nuneaton, Warwickshire, UK - A strange aerial object was observed from inside a moving vehicle, by 2 male witnesses. Witness (A) stated: “I was driving from my lockup/workshop, and turning onto Slingsby Close, on the Attleborough fields Estate, when my associate and myself noticed a brilliant light in the sky. It was lowering to about a hundred feet, at which point the van engine stalled (I conclude being a electrical engineer). It looked like one of these coloured light toys for kids - a multitude of colours, it was spinning anti clockwise. There appeared to be sparks flying off the craft. We both estimate it was 25-35 feet in diameter.” (Brans). (IN-Med). (Lufoin).

77/16/02. - 2 January 2016 - 23:52 - Nuneaton, Warwickshire, UK - A white disc - shaped aerial object was observed from inside a moving vehicle, by a male witness. Witness stated: “Passing the Nuneaton Football ground by car and heading towards Hinckley, I saw a very white disc hovering over the little industry estate. It appeared to be about 40 feet in diameter. It made the hairs on my neck stand up, and I felt a tingling on my face.” (Ooga) (IN-Med). (Lufoin).

51/16/03. - 4 January 2016 - 17:43 - Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK - A delta - shaped aerial object was observed from inside a moving vehicle, by five witnesses. Witness (A) stated: “A UFO was spotted by five of us tonight along Stoke Road. It was delta - shaped with 3 red lights.” (Mumbler). (PE-1B). (Lufoin).

51/16/04. - 5 January 2016 - 05:56 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - 3 dome - shaped aerial objects were observed by a male witness. Witness stated: “I was cutting through the church car park with my dogs, when I saw a flash of red light, looking like streaks of light in sky - I thought it was lightning? I then I saw 3 objects appear and fly about 500 feet in the sky.” (Hiron). (IN-Med). Possible Fireball Meteors. (Lufoin).

51/16/05. - 17 January 2016 - 18:03 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - Two strange orange craft in the sky were observed by several independent witnesses. Witness (A) stated: “We (4 of us that is) witnessed two strange orange craft in the sky moving at about ten miles per hour, low in the Shilton sky. They kept in line with each other as the passed overhead. We would say they were 12-18 feet across.” (Rajesh). - Witness (B) stated: “My wife and I and the two girls as I was driving on the A47 just past Earl Shilton witnessed 2 orange saucers in the distance.” (Finch). Witness (B) stated: (female) “My Husband and I saw 2 big discs over Earl Shilton town way last night - bright green in colour. My Husband was so in awe of the sight he nearly drove off the road.” (Briggs). (IN-Med). Possible Fireball activity. (Lufoin).

51/16/07. - 3 February 2016 - 17:37 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - Several bright lights in the sky were witnessed by a male witness from inside a moving vehicle. Witness stated: “I was travelling from Stoney Stanton towards Earl Shilton, when I saw lights in the sky that seemed to be heading from Desford way, and following the Earl Shilton bypass across to Barwell. I wound down my window as it crossed overhead. These lights were very bright and really stood out. There was just 3 lights in a triangle shape, they didn’t flash. There was no sound as the lights passed over at about 300 feet high.” (IN-NL). (Hinckley Times).

51/16/08. - 5 February 2016 - 12:30 - Glenfield, Leicester, Leicestershire, UK - A silver disc -shaped object in the sky was allegedly observed by a lone, male witness. Witness stated: “I saw a silver disc in the sky today about half 12 over Groby Road ,Glenfield Leicester, it was just hovering for about a minute, it then moved left and seemed to change shape into a delta shape.” (Oxlong). 77/16/08. - 6 February 2016 - 05:03 - Dordon, Warwickshire, UK - A strange object in the sky was allegedly observed by a lone, male witness. Weather at the time: Extremely cloudy with very heavy rain - very strong winds - Witness stated: “I saw a flying disc moving in the sky along the A5 covered in green lights - big thing - it wasn't a drone or helicopter.” (Jordon). 51/16/31. - 10 February 2016 - 18:39 - Stretton under Fosse, Rugby Warwickshire, UK - A bright aerial object was observed by a married female witness.(Husband stated: “Location B4027 northbound opposite entrance to HM Prison college heading into Stretton under Fosse near Rugby Warwickshire. My wife saw bright object fly across sky left to right whilst driving home. A minute later, looking across the Malt Kiln farm shop, she saw a huge inverted pear-shaped object with white lights around it. This object was approximately 3,000 feet high. My wife thought that this latter object was stationary, and about half a mile away. Conditions were dark, dry and sky was clear, some stars, moon visible had lower right side crest.” (Smith). 77/16/10. - 16 February 2016 - 00:56 - Atherstone, UK - A blue diamond shaped object in the sky was observed from inside a moving vehicle, by four witnesses. Weather at the time: Clear skies - dry, with a moderate southerly wind. (Witness (A) (female) stated: “Four of us had just finished work and were heading home by car to Mancetter. We noticed up ahead a lit up blue diamond - shaped object in the sky, it was projecting a green laser into the fields by looks of it. We passed by and couldn't figure what we saw, so we turned around at the Mancetter island to have another look, and it was gone. We stopped by where it was over field, but could only make out cows in the darkness.” (Walker). (PE-2B/police). (Lufoin).

51/16/11. - 22 February 2016 - 15:00 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - A hovering cylinder - shaped object in the sky was observed by a male witness. Weather at the time: Clear, dry with a north - westerly breeze. Witness stated: “I saw a cylinder - shaped object in the sky - I did not see it flying, it was just hovering.” (Kaliki). (IN-Med). 51/16/12. - 23 February 2016 - 18:00 - Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK - A bright aerial disc - shaped object was observed by a lone, male witness. Weather at the time: Patchy cloud - dry, with gentle northerly winds. Witness stated: “I was leaving work last night and saw a really bright disc shaped object, as bright as magnesium burning, passing by over Druid street.” (Coupland). (PE-1B). (Lufoin).

77/16/13. - 27 February 2016 - 23:00 - Atherstone, Warwickshire, UK - An illuminated egg - shaped craft was said to have been observed in the sky on this date by a married couple. Sighting was reported direct to lufoin the next day. Weather at the time: Dry but mainly cloudy - moderate north easterly winds. (PE-1B). (Lufoin).

77/16/14. - 28 February 2016 - 22:00 - Atherstone, Warwickshire, UK - An oval - shaped aerial object was observed originally from inside a moving vehicle, by a male witness. Weather at the time: Cloudy and dry, - cold north easterly winds. Witness stated: “I was driving along Rowlands Way in Atherstone, when my car suddenly stalled. I heard a humming sound overhead so I looked up and saw an oval craft in the sky the shape of an arrowroot biscuit. It was glowing green and blue, with a red light shining on my car. This object was low in the sky, about a 100 feet high. I estimate it’s size was about twice that of my car. I couldn’t hear any sound being given of from rotors or propellers. The object just glided steadily overhead in the direction of, and over, the nearby Aldi warehouse.” (Farrent). (IN-Med). (Lufoin).

77/16/15. - 4 March 2016 - 23:45 - Atherstone, Warwickshire, UK - A large boomerang - shaped craft in the sky was observed from inside a moving motor vehicle, under poor viewing conditions, by a lone, female witness. Weather at the time: Very cold, (one degree) - extremely cloudy, with heavy snowfall - biting westerly wind. Witness stated: “I was leaving for work, about to go onto the A5, when I saw a large, boomerang - shaped ship in the sky - purple mist was coming out of the rear of the craft - it was travelling towards Baddesley_Ensor.” (Jones). 51/16/16. - 28 March 2016 - 21:00 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - A blue aerial disc - shaped object was observed by a lone, male witness during dark and poor viewing conditions. Weather at the time: variable cloud - heavy rain - brisk southerly winds. Witness stated: “I witnessed a strange disc in the air about 40 feet off the ground, at the back of the Heath Lane surgery. It was brilliant blue. It looked to be 30 feet in diameter. It was hovering and beaming down a white light.” (Delonge). (IN-Hi). (Lufoin).

51/16/17. - 2 April 2016 - 15:05 - Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK - A red metallic aerial object was observed in good viewing conditions, by a male witness. Object was at a low level flying quickly northwards before suddenly vanishing. It appeared to be tilting at a 45 degree angle all the time it was under observation. (IN-Med). (Lufoin).

51/16/18. - 12 April 2016 - 21:32 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - A green globular aerial object was observed in good, dry viewing conditions. (Male) witness stated: “I witnessed a large green globe moving in a zigzag pattern above Almeys Lane - object then did a ninety degree turn and shot up to the night sky.” (Williams). (IN-Med). 51/16/19. - 29 April 2016 - 13:05 - Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK - A fast moving white globular aerial object was observed flying towards the South - East at high speed - high up - no vapour trail - clear blue sky - male witness. (PE-2A). (Lufoin).

51/16/20. - 8 May 2016 - 12:00 - Coventry, West Midlands, UK - A unusual aerial object was observed in the sky above the area by several witnesses. (Male) Witness (A) stated: “I was attending my kid’s football match with some other parents, when one of them commented on a plane, possibly a 777 or a 737 at low altitude, rising/circling from a take off from probably Birmingham airport. Two or three of us looked up to it in the SSW direction (the midday sun was at about 10 o'clock high). In the background, I noticed a very high altitude object moving across towards the Sun. It eventually be came obscured behind a puffy cloud. Before it finally disappeared, at least one of the other parents there saw it too. At first I though it was an airship due to it‘s elongated shape with the elliptical ends, but it was too long and the proportions seemed wrong for this. After about 5 seconds in view, the object just disappeared and did not appear again.” (IN-Med). (Lufoin).

51/16/21. - 10 May 2016 - 21:00 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - A strange blue glowing object was observed in the sky above the area by a lone, male witness. Witness stated: “I saw a strange object in the sky near to the Cloisters, before it disappeared over the town - it made very little noise, I couldn’t hear any sound of engines or rotors, only a strange humming sound. I couldn’t quite make out what it was, I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. It was double the size of a helicopter and around 200 feet in the air. There is no way it could have been a drone because it was too large, I would say massive, and it certainly was not any kind of aircraft I had ever seen before. It was very strange. I managed to take a picture of the object before it went away at speed over the town centre.” (IN-Med). (Hinckley Times).

51/16/22. - 25 May 2016 - 21:55 - 22:00 - Earl Shilton, Elmsthorpe, Syston, Leicester Forest East, Leicestershire, UK - A strange blue glowing object was observed in the sky above the South Leicestershire area by several independent witnesses. Weather at the time: Cloudy with occasional light drizzle, - light northerly breeze. Male witness (A) stated: “I was heading back from delivering a spa pool at a customers when I turned onto station road when I saw a brilliant blue light passing over Earl Shilton, it was low, about a hundred feet off the ground and about twenty foot wide by about ten foot high, it was moving in a zigzag pattern.” (Salisbury). Male witness (B) stated: “I was walking dogs last night when we saw a very bright blue craft in the sky over Elmsthorpe - it wasn't a meteor as it was moving controlled. I'm lost as to what it was as it wasn't an aeroplane and not a chopper or drone. There was only a humming noise I could hear, and a mouldy egg smell as it passed over.” Male witness (C) stated: “I saw a car sized blue cut diamond UFO flying low over Barwell heading towards the village centre, there was a putrid smell in air as it passed over.” (Gee). Male witness (D) stated: “I saw a blue UFO flying over Earl Shilton town centre, it was eerie.” (Salt). Male witness (E) stated: “We both saw a glowing blue diamond - shaped thing flying low over rooftops in North Street, Syston - I mean like just 50ft off floor, looked to me to be 15 feet in width. What was it ??” Female witness (F) stated: “My husband and I both noticed a bright blue, diamond shaped aircraft in the sky hovering above the Rugby ground near Beggars Lane, Leicester Forest East. 51/16/23. - 26 May 2016 - 13:00 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - A black “batwing” - shaped aerial object was observed by a male witness. Weather at the time: Cloudy with occasional light rain, - light breeze. Witness stated: “I Just saw a black batwing flying through the sky. There were two blue lights on the front of it.” (Fencer). 　51/16/24. - 1 June 2016 - 22:30 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - A blue aerial object was observed and photographed by a male witness. Weather at the time: Cloudy with occasional light drizzle, - cold northerly breeze. Witness stated: “I photographed on my iphone last night , this strange blue craft that passed over my house at about half ten - it was noiseless, and about size of a car.” (Jordan). (IN-Hi). 51/16/25. - 25 June 2016 - 22:04 - Blaby, Leicestershire, UK - 2 spinning objects were observed in the sky by a married couple. Witness (A) stated: “My husband and I both witnessed a spinning disc - shaped golden object in the nights sky over Ripen drive in Blaby. It was as if it was watching us, just perched in the sky, after a minute it shot upwards at a phenomenal speed.” (Maroola). (IN-Med). (Lufoin).

51/16/27. - 7 July 2016 - 06:50 - Barwell, Leicestershire, UK - 2 rotating chrome spheres were observed in the sky by a female witness. Witness stated: “I saw 2 rotating chrome spheres over Barwell early this morning. About 50 feet apart, and perhaps 200 feet in air.” (IN-Med). (Lufoin).

51/16/28. - 8 July 2016 - 11:45 - Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK - A black globular aerial object, flying low and moving upwards at an angle, was observed by a male witness. (IN-Med). (Lufoin).

77/16/29. - 8 July 2016 - 17:00 - Atherstone, North Warwickshire, UK - A gold crescent - shaped object was observed in the sky by a male witness. Witness stated: “I Just saw a gold crescent craft in the sky moving in erratic pattern, purple haze surrounding it - it wobbled, then shot upwards at incredible speed.” (Smith). (IN-Med). (Lufoin).

51/16/30. - 12 July 2016 - 21:00 - Earl Shilton, Leicestershire, UK - A spinning gold globular aerial object was allegedly observed by a (male) police officer and his daughter. Witness (A) stated: “As I was walking with my 12 year - old daughter through Shilton woods, we saw a red laser coming from the sky that hit the ground - as we looked up, there was a spinning gold globe in the air about 200 feet off the ground, emitting a low humming noise. My daughter reached for her phone but there was some kind of interference. The object then shot off silently.” (Banner). (Insuff). (Lufoin).

77/16/32. - 14 August 2016 - 08:40 - Stoke Golding, Warwickshire, UK - A large, bright circular light in the sky was observed by a male witness. Witness stated: “I was driving to work when I noticed a large, bright circular light in the sky. The sky was totally clear. I rolled down my window to see if I could hear any noise from it - it was silent. I drove past a tree, looked again, and the sky was empty. I couldn‘t see it, it had totally vanished. 51/16/33. - 12 September 2016 - 05:00 - Hinckley/Sapcote, Leicestershire, UK - A large number of witnesses claim that they heard loud noises and saw strange lights in the sky in the early hours of the morning. Witness (A) (female) stated: “The sound was fading away and I tried to record it on my phone, you could hear it over my voice at the beginning, and there were lights over the houses in Wykin Park. I was waiting for a giant UFO to lift off into the sky. I have never heard anything like it other than I can say it was like a swirling noise, like a hot air balloon being blown up.” (Kerr).
