THE JULY 2 96 INCIDENTS

July 2nd., 1996, 22:00 Hours. Burbage Common, Hinckley, Leicestershire. UK. Geo. B1.

Two individual Sightings That occurred on the Same evening in July 1996 - both within an hour of Each other.

Incident One;

Mrs. Lynne L witnessed an unusual bright light above Burbage Common on the above date. Her Observations are as follows:

Statement by Mrs. Lynne L.

Driving back from Earl Shilton on July 2nd. 1996, at approximately 10 p.m., along Elmsthorpe Lane towards the top of Leicester Road /Barwell junction - we stopped at the junction and saw a very bright light at approx 30 degrees in the sky coming from North-westerly direction. The light was turning in the direction of Hinckley to follow the path of the A47 road (South). We drove home in the same direction. Near the golf course the light moved sharply away in a south-easterly direction. We turned east into Bradgate Road and lost sight of it for the duration until the bend just prior to John Cleveland College gates. Looking onto the school field we were amazed that the light was coming up over the school field very low approx. 30 degrees. Many students were leaving the school ? Approx. 10 p.m. I commented that surely other people would see the light. It then moved nearer to the houses on Butt Lane. We turned into Woodland Road trying to get a clearer glimpse at the bottom of the road across the school field - towards Burbage woods. We watched the light move down and then up about three times, then down, and then gone. We were sure that the usual flight path had been followed for short periods but there seemed to be too much quick movement and the period we sat in the car was probably 10 minutes. The boys checked the time.”

THE JULY 2nd., INCIDENTS - Incident Two; (Ref: 51-96-05)

July 2nd., 1996. 23:00 Hours. Featherstone Drive, adjoining Brookside, Sketchley Hill Estate, Burbage, Leicestershire. UK. Geo. B1.

On the above date, 67 year-old Mr. J had a strange sighting as he was lying in his downstairs bedroom of his home. It should be noted that the witness is mostly bedridden, due to ill health. LUFOINs knowledge of the event came via Mr Js care assistant, who visited him at least twice a day.

Mr. Js statement regarding the event is as follows:

Statement by Mr. J.

I was lying in bed at 11.00 p.m. There was a gap in the curtains. I saw lots (underlined by witness), of lights, mostly orange and white, but other colours as well. They were round or cylindrical in shape, and seemingly in some kind of pattern. I had the impression that all these lights were on some very large object, as big as the house, and that the object was right outside my window. The lights were still, with no flashing. Surprisingly, although seemingly close, the lights didnt shine into my room. Also, I heard no noise at all. I didnt see it come, I was just suddenly aware that it was there. I looked at it for about 5 minutes, there was no movement. Then it was gone, without me being aware of how it went. Each light seemed to be about the size of a hand.”
