RETURN OF THE BALLOON

June 19th.,1995 - 01:00 Hours - Wolvey, Leicestershire, UK.

The following case is a sighting by a single female witness, of an object that, just like the November 1980 object (s), bears a marked resemblance to a hot-air balloon, seen after dark. (See Cases 51/80/39-44). Follow up investigations however, again failed to identify this particular object, which was operating during the early hours of the morning, next to several national grid electricity pylons. The public house mentioned, the Axe and Compass, when staff were questioned, knew nothing of any balloon using their field to land in, on the date in question, or for that matter, any other time. The British Balloon and Airship Club were contacted but failed to answer enquires. No ground traces were found.

Witness stated: “Driving from Nuneaton to Wolvey on the Lutterworth Road, (B4114), I noticed a bright orange light which appeared to be hovering over the the village of Wolvey itself. This object was very large, very bright and appeared to be split by a large black band running upwards from left to right. Not central, closer to the bottom. I know it was not the Moon as not only was the colour, the shape and the size wrong, you could tell that if you drove towards it, you would eventually reach it. As I got nearer to it, (within approximately one mile), I could see that it had moved nearer to the ground and was moving about in a field next to the Axe and Compass public house. It seemed to be hovering all around the field. As I got within half a mile of that field, I could no longer see it. I stopped, and noticed that it was now higher up in the air close to the church. It appeared to be moving towards the ground behind the church but disappeared from my sight. The whole time I was watching it, it never reached higher than 20 feet, and was mostly approximately 3 feet above the ground. The closest that I dare get to it, was within approximately half a mile.”

June 22nd., 1995 - Motorist spots ‘UFO‘ - The Hinckley Times.

A WOLVEY woman believes she may have seen an unidentified flying object as she was on her way home from work. Driving through Nuneaton towards Wolvey, the woman began to realise that the object she first saw as being the moon, was actually moving closer towards her. She explained: “As the object came closer I could see that it was bright, bright orange with a black line through the middle of it. “It was oval shaped and, from what I could see, was about as big as a house. It was moving over the fields. It was there the whole time. “I was being brave and thought I’d investigate but as I got closer I lost my bottle. I was really frightened actually, it was so weird (51/95/05). (8).
