Five percent of UFO sightings ‘cannot be explained’

By Herald Reporter

MOST of the mysteries surrounding unidentified flying objects can be solved by the Leicestershire UFO Study Group, but even they admit that about five percent of sightings cannot be explained. In previous months, bright lights have witnessed moving towards Food Giant and a family believe they have been chased home by a glowing flying object. However, the extra terrestrial detectives believe that a rational explanation for most UFOs can be found. Group leader Peter Gunn said: “Personally, I think that the media are responsible for the spaceship syndrome. Why do we always look to outer space for answers, when we still know so little about the Earth? “I think on average we get about 30 calls a year and everybody really believes in what they saw. Out of these, there will be two that we cannot explain. We are not saying that therefore the objects sighted must be from space, we are simply saying that as yet we cannot find an explanation. “I am very sceptical about the whole issue. I think that my own interest stems from trying to find an explanation. We don’t go out there and say, yes, there are spaceships. That would just worry people. Sometimes we don’t know what it is that’s been seen. It can take months in some cases to find an answer. “
