1 of 2 - ‘Not an aircraft…and too big and bright to be a star’ say families… Case Ref: 77/78/59, June 8th., 1978

Seen anything in the skies around Nuneaton lately? …. If you have, the Wall and Rossi families are anxious to hear from you. For, they claim to have spotted an unidentified flying object recently. “I’m certain it wasn’t an aircraft because it frequently stopped - and it was far too big and bright to be a star,” explained Ray Wall, of Brading Road. The excitement began when Altero Rossi, of Carisbrooke Road, noticed something in the night skies while driving his car through Stoke Golding. He said: “I took no notice at first and continued driving, but after a while, it became apparent that the object was ten times too bright to be a plane. “So, I got out of the car and the shape stopped dead in the sky before vanishing,” he added. On arriving home, he re-sighted the light and called his family from their beds to witness the event. Nineteen-year-old Andy Wall was also quickly on the scene. “All I could make out was a very bright circular shape which moved off very rapidly and disappeared,” he said. Mr Rossi’s wife, Betty, added: “My husband’s normally very cynical about UFOs but we all saw it and we’re all certain that something strange was going on. - We’d be grateful to hear from anyone else who might have caught a glimpse of the object.”

2 of 2 - More join the UFO spotters… Case Ref: 77/78/60, June 9th., 1978

The Rossi and Wall families of Weddington weren’t alone in spotting the mysterious object in the late night skies of Nuneaton recently. In fact, following yesterday’s story in the tribune, no less than five other people have contacted our own offices or Mrs Betty Rossi who appeared in the article. All five claim to have glimpsed the phenomena on either Thursday, Friday or Saturday last week. But there are two points which lead Mrs Rossi to believe that the sightings are connected. Every sighting has occurred between 10.30 pm and 11.00 pm. All descriptions of the object match exactly. “They all describe the shape as being very bright and large. It moves very quickly and disappears suddenly - I’m certain they saw exactly the same thing as us,” said Mrs Rossi. “I haven’t the faintest what it could be. I’m just curious to find out to satisfy my curiosity,” she added.
